The Princess comes across
Carole lombard is a fake Swedish Princess, Fred McMurray a crooner with a shady past, there is a blackmailer who gets killed and a bunch of detective on a cruiseliner leaving Le Havre to New York. Pleasant enough.
A blog mostly about the films I have just watched

More Carole Lombard romcom, with a rich man pursuing her despite her being in love with someone else. haapy ending, and a few pekinese dogs, art deco decor and smart gowns make it a success.
Predictable but charming Paramount romcom, with Carole Lombard as the pretty manicure who wants to marry rich and does not care for love but who falls for fred McMurray, who plays a III, but also needs to marry rich. Happy ending.
There are some funnt bits, with some good actors, such as Leon Errol, the uncle who likes his coktails, and a cute bear, but there are too many crappy songs with Bing Crosby, the sailor seducing Carole Lombard.
A post punk, low budget, improv film which despite its short length drags on a bit. There are some interesting bit, culturally on the LA rock scene, and some nice scenery using the road between LA and Mexico.
An Italian film done like an American one, heavy influence from later period Scorcese, i.e. the not so good one. A real story seen from the bad guys point of view, through the 70's, the red brigades, etc. Not as good and fun as the original 70's Italian films.
Restaured version, showing all the monochromatic style loved by Melville. There are some slow parts, but also some dramatically beautiful dark scenes revealing the spirit of the resistance, and the desperate attempts of men and women to fight against the Germans.
The original cut of Godzilla, proof that fairly cheesy and basic special effects can produce a much more peotic film that any CGI can produce.
A good little film noir from Siodmack, fairly classic as it's about a wrongly accused man, but with his best friend as a twisted muder, and his secretray with beautiful eyes desperatly looking for the mysterios woman he spent the evening with.
The first Naruse I didn't really manage to get into. it is very slow and not a great deal happens in the struggling geisha house.
