Vanishing point
A great cult film, much better than Easy Rider, on a similar theme, just 3 years later, the flashback scenes are short but very moving, and that Dodge Challenger supercharged is awesome.
A blog mostly about the films I have just watched

Big dark romantic drama from Techine with Deneuve and Deweare both very lost and disturbed in Biarritz.
Fairly solid french noirish film from Claude Sautet with Lino Venture, who only gives one big slap, a young Belmondo and a few good characters, starting in Italy, the riviera and finishing in Paris,
Sounded good on paper but it really drags on and is far too slow, Pollack could have cut about half an hour.
Deneuve plays Manon Lescaut in 1970, fairly good styling, but ultimately not very interesting. she falls for poor annoying Sami Frey but still keeps seeing wealthy men, lots of jealousy on all sides, and pretty tedious to watch.
Based on a JP Manchette, fairly typical Delon film from the early 80s, except that the art direction is particularly more hideous than usual. Deneuve as the farmer raising turkeys is also hard to swallow.
Ava gardner is the bitch, James Mason the sneaky husband, Barbara Stanwick the wife, Cyd Charisse a model, and Van Heflin falls for Stanwick. Mervyn Leroy's direction is professional and classy, the script fairly strong.
A Robert Wise film set in the corporate world, with a good cast. The pace is not so good, but the ending is fairly strong, even if predictable.
Barbara Stanwick proves she is a great shooter and goes on an adventure with Buffalo Bill and his circus. Fairly entertaining, but not that great.
As expected it was very disappointing. Even the cinematography by Darius Khondji is so so, with too many slo mo shots that are often pointless. The script is not very good, and WKK in English sounds silly. The las Vegas story is ok, but the one in Menphis was not good at all and very annoying.
Classic Warner film made just after the war with a female audience in mind. Stanwick is very good as usual but it's pretty uneventful drama.
